  • Making a Way for Mothers.

In Liberia, like many poor countries around the world, single mothers carry the burden of raising their children without the benefit of sustainable employment. At EJ Flomo Cocoa company, we have committed ourselves to providing job opportunities to the less fortunate, especially single mothers who need to feed their children and send them to school. In doing so, these children have a greater opportunity to thrive.

  • Empowering Women Outgrowers

Gender equity is a major priority of EJ Flomo Cocoa company. In addition to employing women in our company and giving them leadership roles, we are also empowering other women in the nearby community. In 2019 we mobilized a group of women in BA to begin a cocoa project on their farm lands. We gave them cocoa seedlings, trained them in nursery making and guided them in planting their cocoa. These women will soon become an important part of our cocoa growing community.

  • Training Outgrowers

In addition to their involvement in decision making, our outgrowers are trained on a regular basis by local and international trainers on pre- and post-harvest cocoa management. Outgrowers are trained on nursery management, site layout, transplanting, soil management, liquid and organic fertilizer applications, etc. For post harvest training, outgrowers are trained on the timing of harvesting and cracking the pods, the process of fermenting the beans, the timing and the duration of drying the beans in the solar dryer, and testing for moisture, mold, and overall quality.
